Corafest
April 13
The City of Edinburg proudly announces the inaugural Corafest, a collaborative venture with acclaimed hometown musician Bobby Pulido. Set in Edinburg, the heart of Tejano music and the City of Festivals, Corafest promises a dynamic celebration of conjunto and norteño music, spotlighting the vibrant cultural heritage of the Rio Grande Valley.
Conjunto music holds a cherished position in the hearts of many in the community, and Corafest aims to provide a platform for school ensembles to showcase their remarkable talent. This event not only celebrates the musical aptitude of local youth but also honors the enduring traditions and cultural richness of the Rio Grande Valley. Edinburg is also a fitting background since it was designated as a “Music Friendly City” by the Texas governor’s office.
“As a city deeply entrenched in the cultural fabric of the Rio Grande Valley, we are thrilled to host Corafest,” said Mayor Ramiro Garza Jr. “This event embodies a celebration of our heritage, pays homage to our musical traditions, and fosters unity within our community through the spirit of conjunto music. It is all corazon.”
Corafest will feature live performances by talented school ensembles alongside a special night concert featuring renowned artists such as Reflejo Activado from Brownsville, La Joya native and nephew of Ramon Ayala — Elvis Javier y Su Grupo Norteno, and Ram Herrera from San Antonio. Attendees can anticipate a day brimming with vibrant music, delicious cuisine from local vendors, arts and crafts, and a jubilant celebration of the unique culture thriving in the region.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the City of Edinburg to bring Corafest to life,” Bobby Pulido said. “This event underscores the enduring legacy of conjunto music and its profound impact on our community. We eagerly await music enthusiasts from near and far to join us in this celebration.”
Corafest will take place at the Promenade Park Amphitheater in Edinburg. Admission is $10, and children ten and under enter free of charge. All are invited to come and experience the magic of conjunto music in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley.
