Barbie’s 65th Anniversary Celebration

March 9 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library is thrilled to extend an invitation to the community for an unforgettable celebration in honor of Barbie’s 65th anniversary. The event will take place on Saturday, March 9th, at 1 p.m. at the Sekula Memorial Library, 1906 S. Closner Blvd. in Edinburg.

Barbie’s 65th anniversary signifies a significant milestone for the iconic doll, underscoring her lasting impact as a global symbol of diversity and inclusivity. With an impressive repertoire of 250 careers, 97 hairstyles, and 9 body types, Barbie authentically reflects the rich tapestry of our world.

However, Barbie embodies more than just a doll; she serves as a role model, imparting valuable lessons in strength, compassion, kindness, and respect. Through her diverse array of professions, Barbie challenges stereotypes and encourages individuals to pursue their dreams, irrespective of societal expectations.

The celebration at the Sekula Memorial Library will include a special display featuring some of the most memorable career Barbies, along with a brief presentation by Mrs. Lidia G. Guerra, providing guests with insights into Barbie’s illustrious history. Attendees will also have the opportunity to capture unforgettable moments with various photo opportunities and participate in various Barbie-themed raffles.

Guests are invited to indulge in a delicious birthday cake as they honor Barbie’s legacy.

“We welcome all children and those young at heart to join us in commemorating Barbie’s 65th birthday,” said Letty Leija, Director of Library & Cultural Arts. “Barbie’s message of empowerment and possibility resonates with individuals of all ages, and we eagerly anticipate celebrating this special occasion with our community.”

Don’t miss this chance to participate in Barbie’s milestone celebration. For more information, contact the Library at 956-383-6246 or visit 1906 S. Closner Blvd., just across from the historic ECHO Hotel.
